Welcome to KEY STAGE 4
Key Stage 4..... A series of specialised and topical courses encourage better thinking and understanding of today’s’ world by our teenagers. Specialist training is required for most key stage 4 lessons please contact apsleyeducation for details:
Ø Drug Awareness "The Circle of Crime" As is true with most drugs the good bits are far outweighed by the bad what starts as feelings of inhibition, excitement and euphoria quickly becomes at the low end of the scale drowsiness, flu like symptoms.....
Ø Knife Awareness "Arm Yourself? Arm your attacker!" ! As with most Key stage 4 Lessons delivered by apsleyeducation specialised training is required as some of the subjects can be controversial. This knife awareness program highlights the dangers of taking a knife out as a means of so called ‘protection’. It brings home a very serious message to our young people that in the majority of cases people who carry knives end up having their own knives used on them! Real life examples are used during this lesson with some graphic photographs and first hand accounts told by young people whom the students should relate too.
Ø Internet Safety “Don’t be tricked" Using the C.E.O.P Presentation and DVD students learn through audio visual input the dangers of the Internet, Grooming, and bullying tactics that can be used. There is some limited discussion on paedophile activities and how they groom young people into meeting them and or sending pictures of themselves to these people. This lesson also discusses with students electronic bullying and how to report abuse by other users.
Ø You and the Law. A workshop based lesson where students are given real life issues to deal with and examine how and why we have laws, how penalties are set when laws are broken and the effect of a criminal record. Students are given the opportunity to discuss crime in their area, if any! How they perceive the culprits; how the victims might feel; how can it be constructively stopped
Ø

Ø Peer pressure – an interactive lesson using an onscreen DVD presentation to highlight and identify different acts of bullying and mental anguish that victims experience. There are ‘in your face issues’ easily identifiable to the students but there are many subtle hidden issues through out the film that many students do not immediately recognise as forms of bullying or mental illness....a very good, educational but enjoyable event.
